
1. The Lions Gate Bridge, built by the Guinness Family, opened the North Shore to vehicle traffic in 1938. The lights were turned on in 1986 celebrating 50 years from the start of the construction and the 100th birthday of the City of Vancouver.

3. B.C. Rail, originally a North Shore commuter train from North Vancouver to West Vancouver made its first run on New Year’s Day 1914. Service now extends from the North Vancouver Passenger Station up Howe Sound to Whistler, through Cariboo Country to Prince George.
4. Waterfront Park, next to the Pacific Marine Training Institute, hosts many events from May to September and features a seawall promenade an unique Japanese Garden – a fantastic photo opportunity!
5. The 400 passenger SeaBus offers one of the world’s most inexpensive Harbour tours connecting the North and South shore’s transit systems from the Lonsdale Quay.

7. Lonsdale Avenue, the heart of the City of North Vancouver, is home to ship building shopping, dining, nightlife and the arts. Don’t miss Presentation House Theatre and Art Gallery one block west on 3rd Street.
8. Boulevard Park extends 12 blocks with gardens, tennis courts and children’s playground. At one time this was the widest street in the commonwealth.
8a. Park & Tilford Gardens, 8 separate theme gardens were created in 1968 by a privately owned distillery as a gift to North Vancouver. Open 9:30 a.m. to dusk everyday. The gardens are 75% wheelchair accessible and free to residents & visitors. 30 shops & services available at the centre.
9. Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge & Ecology Centre are the focal points of the 200 acre Lynn Canyon Park along with well marked hiking trails and picnic sites.
10. Lynn Headwaters Regional Park- Over 4000 hectares of wilderness with walking trails, picnic facilities, informal nature study and fishing.
11. Murdo Frazer Park- “Pitch and Putt” nine hole golf course.
12. Edgemont Village offers 60 shops and services with a Bavarian theme and is located just off Capilano Road.
13. Capilano Suspension Bridge celebrated its 100th birthday in 1989! One of the world’s longest (450’) it sways 230’ above the Capilano River Canyon. 14. Capilano Salmon Hatchery, in the Capilano Regional Park, was designed to restore the dwindling stocks of Coho salmon and Steelhead trout. The Hatchery features displays relating to the life cycle of salmon and produces over 1 million Coho, up to 2.5 million Chinook and 10,000 to 20,000 Steelhead annually.
15. Cleveland Dam, with a spillway nearing 300 feet, holds back the 670 acre man-made Capilano Lake providing the wonderful pure drinking water for much of the Greater Vancouver Region. The park provides one of the best possible views of the landmark twin peaks of the Lions.
16. Grouse Mountain is host of the World Hang Gliding Championships each summer. Canada’s largest and most modern aerial tram whisks 100 passengers per car 3100 feet to the top offering an incredible view of Greater Vancouver enroute to walking trails, Bavarian Garden, dining and helicopter tours.
17. Cypress Bowl and Provincial Park is a four season playground with great downhill and cross country skiing in winter and summer hiking, picnicing and wilderness camping.
18. Highview Lookout picnic area with a panoramic view of Vancouver, Stanley Park and the picturesque Lions Gate Bridge.
19. Ambleside Village has 245 businesses, several boutiques, antique shops, movie theatres and craft shops. Ambleside Beach has a seawalk, boat launch, tennis court, concession, pitch & putt golf course and playground-even your dog is welcome in part of the 61 acre park!
20. Park Royal, built by the Guinness Family in 1950, was the first shopping centre of its kind in Canada. Now expanded to cover both sides of Marine Drive it houses over 190 shops and services.
21. Capilano River Park from Marine Drive to the Cleveland Dam offers fishing, the Salmon Hatchery, picnic facilities, walking trails and whitewater kayaking for the experienced.
